Diskmaker X For El Capitan

First of all, the DMG file installer for 10.11 El Capitan (from the 'How to upgrade to 10.11 El Capitan' Apple page) which I couldn't get to work with Diskmaker X isn't really a 10.11 installer app (like the ones you download from the Mac app store), but rather an installer for the 10.11 installer app! Question: Q: Cannot create bootable El Capitan USB media using 'createinstallmedia' or Diskmaker X Hello all, So far (knock on wood) El Capitan has been fantastic on my 2011 MBP 13' i7, and has actually improved everything, especially performance. Step 2: Install DiskMaker X. If you don't already have DiskMaker X installed, go ahead and do that now from the DiskMaker X website. The newest version should be DiskMaker X 5.0.1, which is compatible with El Capitan. Does exactly what I need. I had a MacBook Pro with a corrupted startup and needed to reinstall the El Capitan OS. I found the installer app and the correct version of DiskMaker X, created a startup USB from my High Sierra iMac, and successfully reinstalled El Capitan on the MacBook Pro for it to now startup and function again.

Learn how to upgrade to macOS Big Sur, the latest version of macOS.

Check compatibility

The version of macOS that came with your Mac is the earliest version it can use. For example, if your Mac came with macOS Big Sur, it will not accept installation of macOS Catalina or earlier.

If a macOS can't be used on your Mac, the App Store or installer will let you know. For example, it might say that it's not compatible with this device or is too old to be opened on this version of macOS. To confirm compatibility before downloading, check the minimum hardware requirements:
